ISSUE 63: Two Years

And pushing the pause button

It’s been almost two years since I pushed publish on THE YELLOW PAGES Substack, and so much has happened in that time. I’ve featured longtime friends, family members, and people I’ve been huge fans of and it’s been enlightening learning more about Asian/AAPI-founded voices. Posting here has helped me find my own blogging voice again, something I’ve had an on/off relationship with since 2009. I’ve decided now is the time for me to hit the pause button while I figure out if I want to continue curating Asian/AAPI recommendations, and asking others to do so, as well.

When I began writing here, I was in a different place mentally — with my life, my community, and my career. I find myself in another place now (gratefully, a better one), but part of that also means that I’ve been gravitating towards stepping back and processing these shifts privately.

I’m not sure if that’s a result of the current online landscape, or just getting older, but I believe it’s time to take a break from this particular endeavor. I’m moving this subscriber list over to my other Substack,

, where I will continue to post regularly about all my random thoughts/musings/recommendations — and yes, that definitely includes AAPI-founded businesses/art/culture.

I understand, however, that weekly beauty/fashion/lifestyle emails through the eyes of a perimenopausal woman isn’t for everyone. But if it’s for you, please stay.

Perhaps you’ll hear from me (or another Asian) here in a few months when I feel ready or inspired — but for now, I’m taking a break. For those of you who paid for the year, I’ve transferred the remainder of your subscription over to
